What is passive design in architecture?<\/h2>\n

Passive design involves making use of the site\u2019s natural resources to improve the building\u2019s energy performance. A passive house is not merely about incorporating energy-efficient systems; it is based on a more fundamental principle: reducing energy demand through the architectural design itself.<\/strong> <\/p>\n

This means that before choosing an air-conditioning unit, a solar panel or a home automation system, the project must address some basic issues: how sunlight enters the property in winter, how overheating is prevented in summer, how the property is ventilated, which materials retain heat, and how the building envelope is protected.<\/p>\n
